PART I. HISTORY, GARDENS & ARCHITECTURE
Best known as the home of musician John Lennon from 1969-1971, and then Ringo Starr from 1971-1988, the spectacular history, architecture, and gardens of Tittenhurst Park is a lot more exciting than most people could possibly imagine. Now, for the first time, readers will be taken on a grand tour of the entire 72+-acre estate, its mansion, guest lodges, and gardens. Follow along on a thoroughly-researched timeline and join in on an adventurous journey back in time and through an incredible estate that was more than just the home of two of The Beatles. The story, history and architecture of this estate are told with facts, trivia, vintage articles, floor plans, site plans, vintage and original photos & illustrations.
PART II. JOHN LENNON & YOKO ONO
During the Summer of 1969 John Lennon paid £145,000 for a massive estate that included a Georgian mansion, a keeper's lodge, servants' cottages, stables, and spectacular grounds that were often referred to as a "Museum of Trees." The estate is best known as the location of The Beatles' last official photo session. It was also here where John Lennon built the U.K.'s first professional home recording studio, where he and Ono recorded several albums, including Imagine. Come along on an incredibly journey back in time, and take a grand tour of the beautiful estate when John & Yoko lived at Tittenhurst Park between 1969-1971.
PART III. RINGO STARR & THE SHEIKH
Following his permanent move to New York City, John Lennon sold Tittenhurst Park to his friend and bandmate Ringo Starr in 1973. Among his renovations, Ringo updated the recording studio and rented it out to professional musicians who recorded there throughout the 1970s, such as Def Leppard, Judas Priest, Whitesnake, and the Tourists. Ringo also used the estate as the location of several music videos. Following his marriage to Barbara Bach, Ringo and his new wife made Tittenhurst Park their home until 1988 when he sold it to Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates and ruler of Abu Dhabi. This Volume showcases the extraordinary estate from 1973 until contemporary times, including plenty of exclusive interviews with many of the magnificent musicians who recorded there!
